The program “Masterpieces of Film Music” is dedicated to two great masters of film history – Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota. On this evening, the Vienna Golden Sound Orchestra, pianist Mike Kaufmann-Portnikow and countertenor/violinist Viktor Andriichenko present music that has long since become part of film history and continues to live on in the hearts of millions of listeners.
The musical direction of the program is in the hands of conductor Bernhard Melbye Voss. The Vienna-based Danish-German conductor, composer and pianist is a sought-after specialist in film music and regularly works as a session conductor at the internationally renowned Synchron Stage Vienna for major international film and series productions.

Ennio Morricone is regarded as one of the most famous and most prolific film composers of all time. He wrote over 500 soundtracks for cinema and television productions, many of which have become true musical icons.
His collaboration with director Sergio Leone shaped the sound of the Italian Western like almost no other. The music for films such as “Once Upon a Time in America”, “The Mission” and “Cinema Paradiso” was honoured with numerous awards, including several Oscars and Golden Globes. He also achieved worldwide fame with his scores for classics such as “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”,
“Once Upon a Time in the West” and “Cinema Paradiso”.
Nino Rota created unmistakable sound worlds for the films of Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti. His music for “The Godfather”, “La Dolce Vita”, “Amarcord”, “La Strada” and many other works is now firmly part of the international film music canon. Rota too was honoured with the highest awards, including an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Grammy.
On this evening, selected pieces from legendary films will be performed in full symphonic scoring – emotional, powerful and entirely in the spirit of the great cinema.
